color... photography

a Monochromatic Color Scheme was the design focus for Challenge 4, and A Picture Says 1000 Words was the design focus for Challenge 5. The last two week's challenges have been completed, all of the entries can be viewed in the Sweet Shoppe and Little Dreamer galleries, and the winners have been posted at DiscTalkRadio!

On a personal note, I'm still slowing moving stuff, am gonna finish up canning spaghetti sauce and salsa from the last of this Summer's tomatoes today, gathered up 5 gallon buckets of apples yesterday for apple butter, and it's time to make the annual Beef Jerky this weekend... so, I've been keeping busy in the kitchen, and we're cutting and stacking firewood for Winter.

scraplift

oh, how sad ~ this is the last layout for The Amazing Digiscrapping Race, and the theme for Challenge 12 was to scraplift one of your partners LOs ~ I chose her 'most embarrassing moment' LO (which was totally awesome) and I also 'scraplifted' the header from the ADSR Blog ~ am sorry to see The Race come to an end, but look forward to Season 3 ~ thanks for a great time, Amanda *wink*

oops!

anyone who knows me well, has seen my curlers ~ and I've been known to leave home with them on from time to time too ~ so the theme for Challenge 9 (an embarrassing moment) was an easy one for me to decide upon ~ I have even driven all the way to town and gone into the grocery store with them (unknowingly) on my head LOL

the Milk Dude

these are photos of Dudie on his first day 'outside' after his accident
he wasn't able to actually get up onto the chair without my help,
but he did hang out on the front porch and enjoy the summer afternoon...
he has since then recovered quite nicely, although he will probably
never walk the same again... but he's happy, I'm happy,
and all is well in our little world :o-)

twofer

Challenge #7 was to create a multiphoto layout using a minimum of 10 photos, with an added twist: start the LO by adding your papers, frames, photos, and journaling, then trade LOs with your partner, who gets to finish the piece by adding the embellishments. Am sure it would have been alot more fun, if I didn't have major technical difficulties this week with my scanner and camera, but here it is... "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight!"

You can find the layout credits here, as well as all of Amanda's entries for the Race!

Laundry Day

oh, the smell of clean, crisp linens dried in the hot Summer sun... just makes me smile, and brings wonderful memories of my Mom... who always hung the laundry out on the clotheline during the warmer months of the year. Every Monday morning, she would start the 'laundry ritual,' and yepper... Monday is Laundry Day for me too! I also find myself taking a good sniff as I'm taking everything off the line, before folding it in the basket, and a little Lynyrd Skynyrd even goes thru my head while I'm doing it... oooOOOooo that smell :o-)

I have to admit, journaling is not my forte, and journaling was the theme for Challenge #5 ~ I kept it short and sweet!

from Seed to Sauce

the theme for this Challenge was to scrap the letter G, the "G" representing a Goal in your life, and to use the word Goal at least once in the LO

'from Seed to Sauce,' is my Goal this Summer (plant enough tomatoes to can jars of whole tomatoes, sauce and salsa)

~ credits ~
Shabby Princess_Christina Renee ~ French Countryside
Christina Renee ~ Tape & Paper Clip
Nancy Comelab ~ Vintage Slide PhotoFrame

my first vegetable garden was planted 12 years ago, then a herniated disc and subsequent back surgery put an end to gardening for 3 years... until this year! With a little help from my friends, the ground was tilled, and 3 dozen tomato seedlings were planted, the tomatoes are just now beginning to ripen, and there were be canning once again at Summer's end!

"it's only a Paper Moon..."

but it wouldn't be make-believe, if you believed in me...."
the lyrics from this song were the inspiration for this StoryBook Challenge.

"It's Only A Paper Moon" was written by Harold Arlen and published in 1933, first recorded by Ella Fitzgerald in 1938, and by many others since. The song was included in the Tennesse Williams play, "A Streetcar Named Desire," which opened in 1947. "Paper Moon" studio photos were extremely popular following the release of the song and movie.

well, my first layout for the Amazing Race has been completed, and submitted YAY (the theme was museums, and the word 'amazing' was to be used somewhere in the design)
