for today...
outside my window... 64F/cloudy @ 9:09pm
i am thinking... the songbirds are gone, but the hummers are here til the 10th
i am wearing... blue jeans, taupe tank/hoodie, birkenstock sandals
i am going... to Coudersport, PA to renew my driver's license this week
i am currently reading... the Sunday newspaper
i am hoping... to make elderberry jelly on Monday
on my mind... gas @ $2.84/gallon, milk @ $3.15/gallon, butter @ $2.99/lb
pondering these words...
"The breezes taste of apple peel,
the air is full of smells to feel -
Ripe fruit, old footballs, burning brush,
new books, erasers, chalk & such.
The bee, his hive, well-honeyed hum,
and Mother cuts chrysanthemum.
Like plates washed clean with suds, the days
are polished with a morning haze."
~ John Updike, September ~
from the kitchen...
london broil, smashed potatoes & corn fritters
fresh peach cake (an Ina Garten recipe)
around the house... freshly cut chinese lanterns, a new air fryer
one of my favorite things... squash blossoms (stuffed & fried)
